Smarter traffic, better routes thanks to ARAMIS

The Netherlands is growing and pressure on the ring roads around our major cities is increasing, so we need to make smarter use of the existing infrastructure. That is why the NDW project ARAMIS was launched. Together with I&W, road authorities, service providers and regional mobility programmes, we are working on the digitisation of traffic management.

In this way, we are improving the quality of traffic data, developing reliable in-car information services and strengthening cooperation between road authorities and service providers. Motorists will then always receive up-to-date, accurate and socially responsible route information – before, during and after their journey.

This prevents rat-running, improves traffic flow and increases safety. At the same time, road authorities gain more control over the information that reaches road users and we comply with new European requirements for real-time traffic information – a clear benefit for travellers, service providers and governments.

ARAMIS will run until December 2029 and consists of 14 different sub-projects. We will tell you more about this soon.
